So much wisdom!
This are the things that make the difference.
YouTube is my chosen form of entertainment and this podcast is the most important one on the platform in my opinion. So informative, enlightening, and inspiring. Thank you for all that you do.
Expanding on one of the suggestions mentioned…. When craving a dish, I challenge myself to make a more nutritious (substitute ingredients) version that I can eat going forward (without giving it up permanently). For example, I LOVE chicken fried steak. I'm working on a convection/air-fryer recipe with less than half the calories of conventionally made CFS. Similarly, I've made a better lasagna, tex-mex, etc. Bonus is that I'll get to eat the dish several times while perfecting the recipe.
Thanks for the video, awesome commentary and great insight!
It touched home when you guys mentioned awareness. I told myself that I'm not going to alter my diet yet. For the month of January I'm going to log every food I eat. I'm not even going to measure or anything like that, just write it down. No pressure. I've learned rather quickly that I do a ton of drive-by eating out of the pantry. I'll walk by and grab a handful of trail mix or chips or chocolate chips. This food journal has helped me be able to view my habits from a third party perspective. I can easily see where a can make some changes.
I can't eat something without to track or to weight it and people around think am crazy that's my lifestyle I love this podcast it make to learn more and more blessing
Great conversation! One thing that made me feel good is the fact that I cut out all fast food (including coffee). Now every time I pass one of those places give it the finger and say not today! Very Liberating to say no.
you guys need to be on rogan
this podcast is the turning point. I'm going to get back in shape, hold me accountable just like you said Sal!
I had so much gasiness for years. Very TMI, but I would feel so bloated and distended. I would fart and feel better, but in about 30 seconds to a minute I'd feel yucky again and the cycle would go on. I went on a regular diet to lose weight. I was pretty much just eating veggies, meat, eggs, yogurt, fruit, cheese and fish, maybe a few other things. I cut out most processed food and cakes, cookies, bread. One day, I went out to eat with a friend. For some odd reason, I got a sandwich instead of meat and veggies. That night, I felt like absolute crap, diarrhea, gassy, bloated distended, horrible. It was at that moment I realized I hadn't been feeling like this lately. So I wondered what did I eat today that I don't normally eat? Well, it was the bread. So I went gluten free. I used to miss cookies and cheez-itz, but I don't want to have those bellyaches again. So, for me, being gluten free is no problem. I know people who are "gluten free," but have gluten all the time. NO THANKS!! I don't want to feel like that again. Nothing is tasty enough to make it worth it. I love you guys! I just discovered my personal trainer was already following you guys for years. That's how I know he's a keeper.
When it comes to diet and exercise, I believe people act on what they want, so the trick is to keep in mind what you really want instead of what you want 'right now'. let your goals drive your desires

I'm in YOYO for yeaaaaarz
Love your perspective on nutrition! Thank you Sal, Adam, and Justin
Sal, I love that T-shirt, my wife has started another weight loss journey, this time with a company called Noom. Both of us were watching your podcast and she kept nodding and agreeing with everything you three said, this was the perfect episode for us. The bit where it needs to be challenging but achievable for life, really hit the mark. Thanks guys
“If you want that ice cream you gotta eat in front/give it to your kids” – That is gold!
I have learned alot of my issues with food are behavioral. I was raised that I had to finish all my food before I can drink because if I drank before it would prevent me from finishing my meal. Its been such a challenge to change that and its huge reason why I eat seconds etc.
I've learned a lot from the workout advice you guys have shared but like you mentioned my biggest pit fall is my nutrition it's something I've struggled along due to how I grew up and I am looking forward to committing to a new lifestyle change

I get what Sal is saying here, but I think you guys need to talk about, or even do a whole episode really, on heavily processed foods. As health professionals, you may know the difference between Whole Foods, processed foods, and ultra were heavily processed foods, but the regular person doesn’t. They’re going to ask questions like, because I’ve gotten them myself, is peanut butter heavily processed? Is bread heavily processed? Protein powder is processed, but if I’m having trouble hitting my protein intake is that OK? So I think it would be good to clarify. Just my opinion.
Almost crying listening to this podcast in the middle of the gym today! Almost nobody realized how food is attached to our feelings. I listen to other fitness things but they are so focused on “pro people”. I love this podcast because is for everyone and make me think, learn and realigned my life
the best way to stay on a diet…. hear me out… is to just fucking do it
“Enjoy the journey” “The Process is where all the value is”…no truer words have been spoken. Just dynamite, pure gold.
Such a great episode before the holiday season approaches. So many good points and useful strategies to use. Really liked the beginning talking about habit stacking. That is what works best for me. Small habits implemented consistently. Thank you for your amazing content.
Im a new personal trainer but im studying to get my nutrition certification as well. If i wanna make long term changes in people’s lives i know the two go hand and hand! Im ganna help my sister and her husband lose weight this coming year so thank you for all the free info its very valuable to me.
Don't go to the store hungry. Go after you eat a meal and you are more likely to not make the "bad" food decisions. If it isn't even in your house then you already got through the part most people fumble when making healthy food choices. At that point, you have to make an effort to go back to the store and buy the junk you think you want, in which case you might convince yourself you either REALLY need it or you don't. After the first couple times I have done this where I thought about going back later to get junk food, it rarely if ever crossed my mind again.
3 years ago i was 365 pounds, eat everything, didnt exercice was fighting depression and was in a path to a early death. But life changed and i started do take action and improve my nutrition only by top eating high processed food and trying to chose better ingredients to my meals, didnt made a diet. Started this past year to walk and jump rope every single day and since october joined a local gym. I went from 3000 steps to 15000, i go to the gym 6 times a week, eat better and im full of energy. Im now at 230 pounds and not going to stop until i reach the body im happy with, its been a long process but full of lessons. Its hard to find good role models on the internet now, every one shows that miracle workout, and thats now wat im looking for. I just wish i had found your channel earlier, the journey would be much easier. Stay in that path to help improve other ppl life. Stay safe and congrats.
I've hit a strength plateau but im still gaining muscle, since my goal isn't strength should I try to break through it ?
The power of words….LOVE the “don’t want” vs can’t have! Wow-so simple and so true! Def going to try that with all the things coming up! Thanks for all you guys do and give!!!
