When you say no sugar do you include fruit?
I would love a more recent video to share with people who are keto-curious or wanting to just begin the low-carb lifestyle. In the meantime, I'll keep sharing this one with those who have definitely noticed my 140 lbs loss so far. Thanks for all your great content!

When I started carnivore in February, I didn’t feel like I knew enough facts to disprove all of the “your cholesterol is going to be terrible” type of comments, I just knew it was the ONLY thing that was working for me. So I just told people (if they were curious why I was eating just meat) that I was diabetic and can’t have carbs/sugar. It never fails, that’s where the convo ends.

I lost focus of my “why” and now regaining weight. My “why” is that I don’t want to get Diabetes and lose my extremities and be in pain like my mom was when she finally passed away 10 years ago. Today is a new day and I WILL start making the right choices! I have to do this for my kids!

And it’s funny because I did Adkins in 2003 and my mother-in-law told me that was a very bad diet that I shouldn’t be doing it that was too high in cholesterol and not healthy. I said actually it is the most healthy diet. Then fast forward to her husband having the bypass and they told them that it was carbohydrates not fat in the diet that caused his blockage. Who was right? Me
That’s what happened to me. Everyone knew that I had started keto. And I got crap from everybody. I was made fun of until they started seeing my weight loss.
My father in law had triple bypass about 8 years ago in Spokane. He said they told him it was carbs not fat that caused the blockage. My mother-in-law has been cooking like most of that generation does by scratch. But she is a baker. She makes wonderful desserts and Candy and stuff and so I think that that’s part of the problem was she was making too many pies and cakes and stuff and
I’m late to your game but the time to start is when you come home from your second vacation on March 9 LOL. 2020 was fine for me 2021 was not I started eating poorly and gained 15 pounds of the 35 I had lost. I am insulin resistant very bad and was up to 209 pounds in 2017. My dad passed away and I ate my way up to that weight. I did it with potato chips. So this year 2022 we were in Arizona for two weeks and we live in Washington state and then we went down to Vegas and were gone for 10 days. I ate everything. So on March 10 I started carnivore because I knew that’s what I wanted to do. I have eaten only bacon beef chicken eggs and a very occasional vegetable and started baking the protein sparing modified fast bread. For me it’s sustainable. I love meat but I was a vegetarian twice in my life which I loved but my family gave me such grief. When I started keto in 2018 I did not get received well in my family. It’s strange how your family doesn’t support you. And then it’s funny how when you’re losing weight and it’s noticeable they can’t help but comment on how good you look and while you’ve lost so much weight. It’s like yeah no thanks to you. I worked hard for that while you guys were making fun of me and telling me I had to bring my own food to events. Yes that happened my daughter-in-law‘s mother had a barbecue for her mother that turned out to be no barbecue at all. Anyway I was told you have to bring your own food we don’t have anything to eat for you. So my sister-in-law and I took a Bento box that was so delicious we had people commenting on how wonderful it looked. We had avocado we had shrimp we had seed crackers and cheese good cheese. Well it was better than the crab that they were eating. Basically it was cold cuts and chips that’s all it was. I even had people asking me why did we bring our own food and I said because I was told there was nothing here for me to eat. I turned it around on them. Evil? Maybe I don’t care. You don’t humiliate somebody like that. What was my weight last noticeable? Oh yes you can’t lose 35 pounds at 5 foot seven and have nobody notice. I love your stories and your videos. If i slip and have the tiniest bit of sugar i look 9 months pregnant and burp for hours and hours.

I think one of the best pieces of advice when first starting keto, from high carb/high sugar diet, is to only focus on keeping carbs low for a week or so, until your cravings and hunger comes into better control, Then you can worry about things like calories or exact macro nutrient break downs.
I need advice. For 3 years I've been on keto successfully. Since Aug this year I suddenly found myself slowly putting weight on. I had started trying to add new keto recipes to my diet. This included almond breads I baked. Could this be what is throwing me off ? Also I find if I eat cheese (sharp cheddar) weight also goes up. Didn't have this response before. Suggestions. Thanks.

Two things on this video.
1. Regarding telling people. As Jordan Peterson explains, “don’t cast pearls before swine”. Don’t waste your time speaking to people who don’t want to listen to what you have to say. “Your devaluing what you have to say to an audience that does nothing but reject it. “. I’ve tried but everyone thinks I’m going to die.
As per the meat comments. I think that’s where people run into trouble with Keto and other practices. The way I understand it isn’t to go and eat all the meat you can (which would be impossible) There is a formula for how much protein you should eat per day / meal. Otherwise your burning the intake fuel and not the stored fuel and you may not lose weight if weight is the main goal. It’s been a while but I think it’s your weight divided by 28. Divide by two meals and that’s the ounces of protein per meal. Maybe someone can correct me if I’m wrong. No worries. I would think being carnivore tosses this right out the window.
Metabolically, maybe there’s a difference there?

Thanks I'll have to watch more of these I have a Rheumatic disease called ankylosing spondylitis. This is supposed to be absolute best to manage symptoms. Although I am very progressed that does not go backwards. But yeah when I tried it before it's so flipping confusing to me. My other problem is I cannot stand very long at all really any position more than a few minutes is my whole back is excruciating and I have to lay down so preparing a meal literally takes me a couple days usually
Mostly good advice, but every 2 ounces of Spam has 1 gram of sugar. It would be easy to eat an entire can of Spam on the keto diet and that would be 6 grams of sugar.
When I started Keto, it was on Christmas Eve. I woke up and could barely move my legs and told my husband "That's it, I'm doing Keto, starting now." Poor hubby had to quickly figure out how to do a Keto friendly Christmas dinner.
I've found myself naturally just craving meat over the course of my Keto journey… I'm 9 months in now!
