I agree that this is the wrong move for WW and I wonder if it’s part of the reason the CEO resigned but by then it was too late to pull back. Was needs to get back to their program foundations. And personally, as a diabetic who takes a GLP-1 for its intended purpose, it landed me so made that I have constant stock issues because of people taking it for weight loss.
Great video
Hi Jen – thanks for this video! So sorry for the loss of your friend. I'm glad you had time to reconnect. We never know how much time we have. I think what bothers me about ozempic, etc tied to WW is that they have to be aware that if people go off the medication they will probably gain the weight back. This will result in more people not being at lifetime and having to pay money again for their membership. One lady they have as a spokesperson, who many follow, has been on WW for 4 years and only lost 40 pounds! Think about how long people are paying for a membership if they follow her way of doing the program. It's all about money and not about a good healthy program. This really bothers me!
I’m so sorry for your loss. He was way too young. Second on WW I’m with you. The program isn’t working. I really liked the messages the CEO Sima gave until they started pushing their drugs. Now Sima has resigned. I think taking drugs is a very personal thing. And for me I want to do life with as little drugs as possible. I liked WW when it wasn’t so restrictive but now some foods are way too high in points that it makes you feel guilty eating it like the 100 calorie fudge ice cream bar is 5 points. It was messing with my mind. So I’m on lose it. You did my macros a long time ago so, I’m just following along and my relationship with food is getting better. I feel like WW went away from all food is allowed in moderation. A 100 calorie ice bar for 5 points is excessive.
I think it is so dangerous to mess around with medication that you’re not prescribed just to try it and especially I’m disappointed in Weight Watchers for promoting this!!!
This is one of your best videos! I send my condolences to you and his family during this difficult time.
For those people who are genetically insulin resistant weight loss and maintenance is very very difficult or impossible without severely limiting carbohydrates. Since people do not want to limit carbs WW has chosen to offer medication in order to help these people obtain normal metabolism . Yes, people will put weight back on if they go off the medication because their bodies will return to not processing glucose correctly. Really genetically insulin resistant people only have two choices, severely limit carbohydrates or take a medication. I think WW is trying to help these people but I do agree that everyone should talk to their primary doctor first before starting any medication. I personally have chosen to limit carbohydrates but it is a very difficult thing to do. I know I will have to do this for the rest of my life and that makes me sad.
So a compounded semi-glutide. Most of them are very similar. There is not a significant difference between different branded ones or ones that are so-called label. They are either combined with a salt, some of them have a multivitamin added or a B vitamin or something like that.
The fact that weight watchers is adding that into their list is simply adding an additional tool. For those of us that have issues with satiety, hunger hormones including grrelin this could be a game changer and actually help our body metabolize and utilize insulin better than we ever have.
The fact that you put it in one of your reels with a discount code or a link shows that you may be joining with that particular company. Aunt may or may not be receiving a financial benefit from those who utilize your code.
I'm not saying this to sound rude. I'm just simply saying that for many of us, myself included taking these medications has changed our lives.
As a member of the WLS community yourself, you know that many times long-term maintenance of the weight loss can be extremely challenging. That's why there are so many groups for regain after WLS. That being said, these do not necessarily have to be lifelong, they also have the capability for titration so the doses can rise and fall as needed. If one were to achieve their goal weight taking the glp1 medication, they can titrate back down for a very low dose to maintain. Many insurances do cover the name brand but there is also news of generics being produced at this time and they will probably be released in the next year. This will allow many people to afford it. Not to mention easier coverage for insurance companies with less cost. I researched these medications on a daily basis, not just as a member of the WLS community, as a patient myself, but also as a nurse who cares for patients. It's important to really do true medical research before making any decision and of course speak to your medical care provider. But I will tell you that I don't think weight watchers is doing a terrible thing by joining this medication into their repertoire. If anything, I think it will be helpful to those of us who need this medication to help our bodies, especially those of us with PCOS, insulin resistance or other issues. I hope this doesn't come across as being rude , I love your videos. I've been watching them since day one and have loved watching your journey.
I think it's just a money grab. Semaglutides are all the rage right now, so WW jumped on that wagon to make an extra buck. At the end of the day, it's a business and the bottom line is profits.
Very well presented, Jenn.
Thank you for your video. I'm very sorry for the passing of your dear friend. Excited for the new house. I'm on WW it works well so far. I had issues in the past with calorie counting. I need to check your personal macro service. Have a great weekend.
Hi all! I personally take a GLP-1 and love it! If you do the research, it's just peptides which the body produces anyways. I have a thyroid condition, high blood pressure and insulin resistant, going to the gym and calorie deficit was not working for me, and I was very strict on my this. Since taking a GLP-1, I have lost 30lbs safely and my blood pressure is stable for the first time and no longer needing my medication. I am slowly weening off the GLP-1 and maintaining my weight loss. It has adjusted my hormone's, and I feel great! It's not always a forever treatment if done right and micro dosed. I agree this isn't for everyone, but please research and know it was a god send for me.
While I agree that this is just another money making thing with WW I can personally testify I was on Mounjaro for about 9 months and have been off for over 6 months and have not gained any weight back. I’ve actually continued losing. I track very carefully and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Maybe I’m not the typical demographic but that’s my story. I never wanted to be on weight loss meds long term.
My hubby is taking Ozempic for his diabetic condition. It does take away his "food noise" and not really having an appetite. I'd like to try it for that alone. It seems like I always want to eat all the things, I just need to be strong and not do that.
Loved this video, great information!
I lost 75 pounds about 20 years ago. Never gained any back still using weight watchers but no drugs. I feel that the current program needs worked on. I have been involved in several programs. their current program is not their best.
I agree meds are not the answer! I am down more than 100 lbs on WW diabetic plan without Any meds or surgeries. I need this to be sustainable. Pissed to find WW has a glitch and took away my 700 day tracking streak!! Ugh.. thx for your input
I lost 29 lbs on Ozempic, but that took over a year. It’s to much money but more then that I’m worried about long term use, and your right Jenn I’ve already gained back 12lbs since stopping it, I’m going to stick with macros
Question regarding WW,has anyone had trouble joining,I have tried probably 20 times to join WW, but it will not take my information, and kicks me out ? I don't want the meds only a diet plan.I even called the WW phone number, they have no idea, anyone have this issue.
You’re doing AMAZING!!! I’m on maintenance and I’m keeping the same measurements and up and down points too…Happy about that. ALSO, just wanted to let you know that I believe you have a HUGE heart ❤️ Thank You for helping any and all the people that want to lose weight, LOVE ALL the information you put out there…wishing you the best and remember karma, I ABSOLUTELY believe good things will come your way…Have a great weekend!!! ❤
Everyone asks me if I am on weight loss medications & I say no just eating a more balanced diet! I haven't lost any weight in 2 weeks & now I am on vacation for 2 weeks so fingers crossed I make good choices! I am proud to have lost 52# so far. Have a great week
I feel the same way about weight loss medications and wouldn't take them.
That’s an insane amount to pay for weight loss medication. That money could buy a lot of clean eating food, heck maybe even organic stuff
This to me is the last nail on the coffin for weight watchers. In the beginning they always said lose weight. Get off your medication. Now they're saying you can't lose weight so you have to stay on medication. They're they're totally. I guess the Creator of weight watchers is rolling in her grave right now because they did not. She did not want to do this and it was working and it does work. It has science behind it but it's going to be shut down pretty soon because they keep on going in the wrong direction. But thank you Jen for everything you do and I'm so sorry again for your friend. It's terrible 43 so young
Good video and I lost two weeks in a row I lost 1.8 this week and I take wegovy because of my doctor decide for me because of my health issues and it’s been helping me for the most part good luck to everyone else
I agree. Weight loss medications should be discussed with your personal doctor who knows you best.. WW doesn't belong in the medication decision.
I'm not happy with WW. It's just to make money. I've tried Wagovy and it's not sustainable. Felt nauseous so of course I lost weight. Will be focusing on counting calories and healthy foods.
Well from someone who has been with ww since the liver days minus a few years imho this co is in serious troubles. It has gone so far away from what it once was. I dont mind zoom found an putstanding leader but of course they let her go. My area is down to 4 meetings per week from 16. I will not be surprised in the slightest if the co gets sold! Sima imho was the biggest mistake ww ever made! If you need to be on meds shots for weight loss a dr is the way to go. I read somewhere that noom does meds but you dont hesr about it. I am lifetime. If i have to pay i will leave. I use my netdiary to track which i love even though i pay for the premium.
Excellent advice Jenn❤️
Hmmm….interesting that it’s not FDA approved.
