I, too, attempted to satisfy that hunger for God with the occult when I was a young teen. My family stopped going to mass and it didn’t take long until I started dabbling in tarot cards and witchcraft. I was obsessed for sixteen years. The new age was like an addiction for me. Any chance I had I used divination as a form of consolation because I felt I had control over my life. It was only by grace that I found myself in a church one morning. The Gospel that day was about the unclean spirit returning with seven more, even more wicked than the first. I went to confession that same day. When I was absolved, it felt like a weight had been lifted off me. Since then, the obsession stopped and I have never looked back. That same year I was confirmed. I chose St. Benedict as my confirmation saint (perhaps he chose me).
Just before I listened to this podcast, I had prayed a Flame of Love Rosary precisely for children in the same situation as Nora was as a child. And also that their parents would be inspired by God's movement in their children.
God sometimes lets us know that our prayers are answered just to encourage us to persevere in prayer and this podcast that I had never watched before came up on my YT feed. He wants nothing short of an army of prayer warriors because He loves each and every human being so much.

I broke down weeping back in November 2003 when I realized that Satan was about to be impeached.
I’ll quibble just a little with Lila’s response at one point: when the girl’s father forbade them from being friends, it was probably bc he didn’t want his daughter (who was interested in practicing the occult), to be dragged down into something that could open her to demonic influences in major ways….Lila mentions the dangers of occult practices a few minutes before she says sorry for the girl’s father forbidding their friendship. I can totally see doing the same as a parent and I’m not sure why Lila didn’t follow up her “I’m sorry,” with something else about why this was probably the case, though it was painful. Instead, Lila seemed somewhat dismayed at the father’s response, which I found reasonable given his daughter’s interest and the dangers of the practice. Unfortunately, not all friendships can be maintained if the influence is dangerous; this is the case even if the person needs to be saved: saved doesn’t mean through another impressionable teen.
I'm a pagan (born & raised like this woman) except it was my tribe (Ngāti Hikairo) not just my parents that introduced me to this. In fact my grandmother taught me about the occult. I love Catholics because they are pro life, pro family, & anti sex trade which is probably why I keep getting recommendations like this. Not hating but man have I had a lot of recommendations about people leaving paganism for Christianity.

I am a revert (almost 2 years back) and I cry ALL THE TIME at Mass. I’m naturally very emotional so I thought it was “just me” but I love so much that it’s the Holy Spirit! My sweet dad has passed away but I have fond memories of him in Mass— so in tune. And he always cried, too ❤️
But…I hope that her husband and her realize that the present "kiss of peace" is an abomination to Our Lord! It's great that the priest says "peace be with you", then, "and also with you, father"…THEN END IT THERE! In fact, some priests do. But, if not, then everyone dances around to the left, dances around to the right, gives the peace sign to people on the other side of of the church, etc. People are doing this with OUR LORD, AFTER CONSECRATION, and is literally on the altar! The novus ordo is so full of heretical Protestant practices! Keep it real! Keep it CATHOLIC!!

Wonderful conversion story. I especially loved the "peace be with you" moment. I take the "peace be with you" part of the mass for granted, it's nice to be able to hear about this part of the mass through another persons conversion story. Thanks for sharing your story Nora.

A college roommate, I knew someone who claimed to be Wiccan & Christian agnostic. They celebrated Easter sunrise service oddly enough. Maybe it was more of the equinox or something. I never saw her do much other than ouji and go to a certain store and buy occult things. Outside of 1 ouji game, I didn't do any of it with her. I quickly realized that she was a toxic frenemy, so I set limits and made some new friends. I received the gift of salvation several years later.
