Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I have osteopenia. Is a 36 hour fast safe for me?
Who shouldn't fast?
1. If you have a nutrient deficiency
2. If you're a high intensity competitive athlete
3. You have mild depression
4. If you overeat when you break your fast
5. You have stomach issues
6. You have type 1 diabetes
7. You can't sleep at all
8. If you don't like it 🙂
Great information brother!
Some words ur just getting it out of ur mind because u don’t fast for losing weight cuz that’s just stupid it’s a culture so u can feel how homeless people feel and how they get throughout the day and see how tough it is so stop thinking it’s all about losing weight
I am a 63 yrs old female who intermittent water(pink salt and magnesium) fast up to 10 days at a time. I have more energy, mental clarity, focus, stamina, as well as losing weight as needed. At times, I do not even want water; I force myself to drink water because I feel I should. During HIIT or doing lawn work, I plan to do only one hour at a time; as I do not want to become winded. However, there are nights when I am wide awake; especially at the 7 day window. At those time, I read; then I fall asleep by 5am; sleeping until noon. Then, I have to catch up on my water. I love the clarity of my skin, the flexibility, and the newly found silhouette of my body; not to mention, the whole foods is the major key to building from within to without. Any recommendations?
Muslims dry fast between sunrise and sunset two days a week and then during Ramadan they do this every day for a month.
Basically intermittent fasting.
I am a healthy 66 year old male. Fast for three days once a month. Will try your advice for people my age and fast two days a month. Also do intermittent fasting daily.
Is this the guy from mindsmash?
When you say 24 hours fasting, do you mean not eating for 24 hours?!! Seems harsh for me
Is fasting appropriate for people who live a mostly sedentary lifestyle?
People with bilirubinemia shouldnt fast.
Fuck you fuck…You're a piece of shit.
Hey, thanks Sim! These are good to know.
Siim l need your help big time 🙂
How to break a 18-20 hours fast to maximize muscles building and protein synthesis , if your workout is at the end of the fasted window?
Should you have fructose and glucose first to spike insulin before eating your protein to maximize protein absorption ?
Or eating big meal with a lots of fats and protein ?
To you think getting in a state of autophagy, in particular dry fasting can help me to reverse the symptoms of Cerebral palsy and if I do a series of dry fasting in a period of over a several weeks?
During Ramadan, Muslim women don't actually fast here. They always get the advise from doctors that they can fast if they can/want for couple of days from the 30 days/ 16 HRS dry fast.
When I was in the LDS church, we fasted once per month. It was recommended to skip two meals. Most folks followed this advice, even skipping medications for the day. No one I know had problems, even diabetics. Children under twelve were advised not to fast, but some did. Elderly also fasted, no problems. We were also advised to avoid work, and instead spend time reading, spend time with family, and get good rest. Followup with healthy, home cooked food.
Sounds like Chronic Lyme symptoms signs of too much fasting lol
16:8 may not be the best but its enough for me and easy
What about a dysregulated HPA-axis from excessive cortisol ? Should they even start Keto ?
Don't people need a certified validation on intermitent fasting or any subject related to health? It's a simple question when everybody think to be expert…
I've seen better looking corpses than this guy
When I was 19 I fasted for 9 days and then broke the fast with deep fried chicken gizzards from the Hollywood Ranch Market. My friends, who were into “macrobiotics” at the time were all sure I was going to die. I as fine. Now I’m 68. I don’t think I should or could do that again. My body can’t recover as easily.
I’m 68 now, type 2 diabetic, obese and sedentary. I’ve been on keto and some IF for 6 months. I’ve lost 80 lbs and lowered my a1c from 11.1 to 6.4. I’ve tried manny variations on IF and restricted eating.
6/18 was too strict for me. I switched to 12/12. Then after a month included 6/18, 3 days a week. Essentially, just skipping breakfast MWF.
OMAD. Tried it. Not for me. I couldn’t manage to eat more than about 1400 calories without being sick, which is not enough calories for a guy my size. Also, I’m a recovering binge eater even though I wasn’t getting enough food, eating so much at once pulled a lot of my emotional triggers. Cravings I haven’t felt since starting Keto came back. OMAD also messed with my Diabetes meds.
Currently, I’m back on 12/12, 3 meals, no snacks. For me that is effortless. I’m never hungry and the weight is still dropping. Two or three times a month, I’ll stop eating after dinner on Friday and then don’t eat again til dinner on Saturday. My Saturday dinner will be light, zero carbs, then back on 12/12. I don’t know if that is best, but for me it is sustainable, and that is most important. The only successful diet is the one you can stay on.
Now about this whole sedentary thing, now that I’ve lost enough weight to move comfortably, I’m tackling that next.
Thanks for great videos which are informative, succinct and enjoyable. I love all the comic inserts.
Hi..i can only fast for 3 days and in the third day i start vomiting water , so i have to stop but during fasting i dont get tired or sick.. Is that normal??
Do not forget about low HCL -very common in low thyroid persons.
Hi Siim great video, is it okay to do IF if trying to conceive a child? me and my wife are trying to conceive a child and ive been doing IF for 8 months
This was a sad video Siim … I was 67 this summer and want to keep on fasting … I do fast 48 hours almost every week … and wanting to do 7 sometimes/now and thene. Fasted for 23 days in February..not to notice that I got weaker … and have plans for 28 days next February .. But now I got cold feet .. Yupp .. I got a bit sad .. Because I feel like fasting does me good …
Type 1 diabetics can fast. It bugs me when people state diabetics 'can't do' something, as it's so ignorant. Why wouldn't we be able to fast? We're still human, just inject exogenous insulin. If we hypo during fasting, it's because basal is set too high (and fasting is the best way to test this, in fact), in which case you would treat with precise small amounts of fast acting glucose. Otherwise, Type 1s can eat when they want to just like everyone else.
Siim, have you tried fermenting veggies and meat with koji (Aspergillus oryzae) to improve taste and add probiotics?
I always have a lot of painful trapped gas when I break my fast any tips on how to get rid of it and prevent it
I once fasted for 10.5 days and had the worst binge afterwards, it was totally not worth it
I don't eat breakfast, I'm too lazy to make lunch and bring it with me, by the time I get home and do house chores or work my garden it's already 6-7pm. I have no choice but to intermittent fast.
Very wise…and likin' the hair Siim:)
During my pregnancies, I found skipping breakfast was a great way to combate morning sickness. I bound a meal called “brunch” worked well.
Siim, people who have Hashis and take Levothyroxin actually have to fast. You can’t eat for an hour after taking it- so really- the whole Hashimotos argument is out the window.
Loved this one!! I love that you arr not one size fits all kind of guy. So helpfull
I try to fast for at least 4 hours every night.
