This is fascinating. I got pregnant immediately after getting married and hadn't really thought much about diet and stuff. I'm learning more all the time. Always eaten animal products – eggs, butter, beef, and chicken… Immediately when pregnant I had an aversion to chicken and a huge craving for beef (and I eat eggs and butter every day). Luckily I have a great source for natural, pasture raised beef (they're grain finished but still… leaps and bounds better than what's from the store.) I've been poor in the fish department though, especially fish oil. I'm bummed that I haven't been eating better since the beginning (I'm 4 months pregnant right now) but better late than never. I eat lots of potatoes and rice out of habit, but I can tell I do better on a "meat and salad" structure.
All I had to search on YouTube to find this video was “Frank Tufano Pregnant”
Awesome!
Amazing video! Lard and sardines for vit. D in the winter, in addition to cod liver oil and liver.
Thank you for this information. I wish I knew this for my 1st born son. Poor thing is still so skinny and short because I didn't know the importance of meat, fish, dairy and all that good stuff. Especially while nursing, all I ate what oatmeal thinking it would increase my supply but it probably was making it worse. Ugh.
Frank, Cali what oil? Excuse me but i can't hear it 😀
I am 2 months pregnant and feeling so nourished by animal foods. My usually bacon and eggs isnt enough. My body mostly wants wild salmon, shellfish, grassfed beef, and full fat yogurt. I also have either cod liver oil or raw beef liver every day. Everything I read online says too much retinol is bad, but I dont think I'm overdoing it. It seems to be exactly what I want. The only plant foods I crave at all are oranges and olives sometimes. Vegetables are seeming more and more unpalatable to me every day. Never thought I'd go carnivore, but this baby seems to be demanding it.
i ate a lot of beef kidney first trimester and pre conception for folate. modern grain based diet will go over upper intake levels of folate because of the added folic acid iin the grains plus the multivitamin which may cause issues. You need just the right amount of folate, not too little and not massive amounts of an artificial from.
how can i reach out to you personaly- my wife is pregnant and is following a ketogenic diet and now she wants to go carnivore- i believe you can assist to her. can i have your email? or please email to her liya.naidorf@gmail.com, thank you!
This is Great! Where can I find the Weston Price Food guide for pregnancy?
I would really like to eat this way, was carnivore before getting pregnant but everything I try to eat that’s meat smells and tastes awful to me. I hope the nausea ends quickly.
yep this is the video I was trying to find again, thank you! Some video topic ideas that might be fun: what my future wife eats in a day, what my future pregnant wife eats in a day, what my breastfeeding wife eats in a day, what my 6-12 month old baby eats in a day. 🙂 Great content. Thanks!
Really appreciate you, Frank! So many lies out there! A woman told me losing period is healthy. But isn’t a period your body shedding the lining that it prepared for you to get pregnant? So it would mean that you were building a healthy uterine lining right? This is amazing. Thanks again.
This is absolute rubbish. I feel sorry for you and the people who follow you 🙁 You wanna make jabs at GojiMan's appearance?… Have you looked in a mirror?? You literally use makeup to try to appear healthy.
I am 9 weeks pregnant. I eat everything, including fair amount of meat. I am not a vegan, vegetarian, or fructarian. However, I crave citrus fruits in this pregnancy. Thoughts?
This explains why when I was pregnant. I would crave boiled eggs(i didn't even like boiled eggs) I also craved sushi(I would literally dream about sushi)and I would eat sushi. The way I figured it there are millions if not billions of Asian people that eat sushi. I'm guessing a lot of them don't stop just because they're pregnant. So I was willing to chance it obviously my body was telling me something. I also craved Spicy Hot v8 juice. I hate V8 juice, but I couldn't get enough while I was pregnant. My son was born in June 2015. Very healthy he was breastfed until 2 1/2. and almost never gets sick.
and they say not to eat fish while pregnant lol my life has been a lie !
Hey Frank, I’m part of a forum for mothers who had babies at the same time as me…10 months ago. The general recommendation is to start babies on cow’s milk at 12 months. One mother said she doesn’t want to use cow’s milk so she was wondering about almond milk as a substitution for cow’s milk. Several other mother’s commented that almond milk does not have the nutrition that cow’s milk does. But my question to you is regarding this: one mother then commented that cow’s milk depletes iron stores and has no business being fed to a human baby. Can you comment on this pretty please??
I was plant based for around two years. I wasn't vegan, still had some dairy and fish now and then and wore animal skins and fur. When I got pregnant, especially in first trimester I was completely repulsed by meat, greens and any cooked food. This was a sudden thing because, even if I hadn't been eating it much before, meat didn't repulse me and I loved my salads and cooked meals. All I wanted were citrus fruit and yogurt. As pregnancy progressed and the first trimester nausea wore off, I started eating more food groups. That's when I noticed that it wasn't meat that repulsed me, but rather cooked meat (and any cooked food). I was craving raw meat and against all the recommendations I ate sushi…a lot of sushi. I then had some tartar…:))) Raw milk, kefir made with raw milk, raw grass fed butter, raw quail eggs, raw fish, fish roe. I couldn't control my craving for raw animal products and fruit.
Towards the end of my pregnancy I gave in and basically lived off of all those things above, plus fresh, raw fruit and the occasional glass of red wine (another thing I craved like crazy). Analyzing the nutritional value of all those things you realize that they are the healthiest, most nutritious foods out there, and being raw makes them more bio-available, more easily digested. I had a great pregnancy and delivery and baby had no issues. Gained very little weight and was active up until labour started. I learned to listen to my body and I have a similar diet now during breastfeeding and again, everything is great. I weigh less than before pregnancy, I work out and enjoy overall well-being, and so does my daughter. Find a good, trustworthy source for these foods and indulge.
Very good video, Frank!
Dear Frank, thank you for this video. I am a 24 year old omnivore, but high animal food percentage consuming woman. (I just like veggies and seeds way too much to give them up). Thank you for collecting all this research Data. I would like to have my first child in 2-3 years, really looking forward to it. I will definitely follow these guidelines. I want to make a beautiful superhuman baby lol
We are all born in ketosis.
Human milk is only 5% protein.
Animal sources are better digested only because its similar to us.
It can be tough to properly nourish 3 fetuses at once.
Regarding nutrition and your sister's dev. disability, I have noticed that among my disabled son's peers the siblings that are unaffected also have epicanthic eye folds. These are white kids in the Midwest. The older siblings usually don't but all younger sibs do. It was the first thing I noticed with my son was that he looked like a middleaged (microcephaly- the head was in adult proportions to the body) Japanese dude (super fair skinned with eye folds). I was in N. India for nearly a year before he was conceived, there's no question I had lots of deficiency in my diet. I heard a lecture on methylation issues and those eye folds by Dr. Stephanie Seneff and their connection to grains. Since my dude has epilepsy he's been ketogenic since infancy. I started 4 years ago because I had tons of health issues the most concerning of which turned out to be a "diabetic dawn" where the insulin levels shoot up at dawn to prepare for when you start shoveling sugar into your craw. I ate a very nutritious diet of whole grain homemade granola, kale apple smoothies, and yogurt or keifer I made myself. I never realized all I needed to do was stick myself to see I was 150mml in a fasted state. Now even after a meal I never break 100. Anyone medical professional who tries to give me shit must first answer if my sugar deficiency is to blame after reviewing the previous quarter years worth of macro and micronutrient tracking 😀
You forgot about vaccines. Very dangerous for pregnant women and babies.
Saw your post came back here to give you a like 😀 please keep making these!
I was vegan when I conceived. Thankfully I listened to my craving and started eating plenty of eggs and fish. I could not resist steaks and bacon soon after so now I am mainly eating red meat. Just got into dairy. Even though I am lactose intolerant I have been drinking plenty of milk everyday and switched out all plant oils for butter on everything!!
My first egg after getting pregnant and being vegan for a year was about as eye opening as the first time I dropped acid lol.
Not a popular subject. Men have a tendency to stay away from anything that makes them nervous and paying child support makes him very nervous
Going to watch this again after work and take notes. I'm in ttc mode and have hormone issues.. thank you for this!! ♥️♥️♥️
Does your mother concede that 'she didn't eat right' during her pregnancy?
My great niece was born with mental problems and I believe that it all stems from her mother's vegan diet. Thank you for your videos.
Thanks for the info, you seem to really care about natural health for all people. We need more people in this world moving closer to nature. You got my sub.
You’re a male you can’t even house a baby.
Weston Price was a hero!
Sorry but what the f*** do you know about pregnancy? You are not even 30, no life experience, obviously not a father and even less a mother, not doctor, what are you talking about dude
Malaysia is a MAJORITY Islamic country therefore the women are dressed up like plastic garbage bags… therefore vitamin D deficiencies.
Prenatal nutrition is perhaps the most critical nutrition period that exists. Thank you for caring enough to make this video. I truly appreciate this sentiment.
When pregnant with me my mom was on a steady diet of Pepsi and I have the health problems to prove it.
will a mother diet affect the baby ability to digest the milk protein in her breast milk?? and thus having the baby be fed on a formula?
I’m new to this channel but find it very interesting. I tried a vegan diet for a few months right before getting pregnant with my 5th baby but started craving animal products in the first trimester and started eating them again. I basically went back to a SAD diet but eat organic greens, sweet potatoes, etc and my baby is healthy.. 95%tile for height and weight. I don’t care for fish but did take supplements during pregnancy and I’m nursing. I like most cooked meat, but I’m having a hard time with the idea of consuming any liver projects.. I’m not sure how to get past that? I’ve never eaten liver before and I’m grossed out at the idea of eating something raw too. I want my whole family to start eating more nutritious foods… Where do I start?
I find it interesting that many anti vaxxers talk about their kids getting better after changing their diet, it makes me wonder how many autism cases are really due to vegan diets during pregnancy and early childhood
