If you take in account the hormonal balance that each body needs this is a great way of dealing with the scale. The base concept is good, the experience and the liver health recomends a litle more atention to the sensations the body sends to the brain. Timing of meals, sleep and mental strenght are the keys to deal with sensations.
I'm starting to realize our body asks for food and we give it "calories"
Just found this… A great video, Dylan… With regard to a macronutrient ratios and weight loss, you indicate that research does provide good evidence that it will impact weight loss… But what about body company was tissues (fat vs lean) are contribytonthe weight loss? Will a higher protein diet help preserve lean muscle tissue during period of weight loss?
What if you already do not eat much. I eat breakfast, usually eggs or oatmeal then I eat balanced dinner. Always salad and vegetables with dinner. I do not drink sugar drinks. I'm 5ft2 female 114lb. I want to loose 10lb for racing. My doc even had me try weight loss pill but realized its only suppressor I already have no appetite or eat much. Also I eat right amount, I do not eat a lot per serving.
That's the first cycling/weight loss video that actually made sense to me and had some take-aways (excuse the pun) I could use. Thanks DJ!
Someone pls help. I been cycling about 3 hrs a day every day for 2 months, and i only got bigger. Im on keto so its not the diet. Can you gain weight from cycling? Like body stores water or smthn?
You are the best man!!
GOLLDDD!!
I love this video, and I am trying really hard to start finding good recipes with high volumes of vegetables (except onions I hate them with a passion) but also with higher protein levels. Anyone have links or ideas for something like this? Love the other recommendations in this video! Just what I was looking for. Love the research backup as well
This is working for me. Great stuff as always Dylan! Thank you.
Great video.
Sorry. But. This is actually horrible weight loss advice. The calories in calories out model? Flat out isn't real… that's not how the metabolism works. Its 90% hormones… namely insulin…manipulate your insulin with diet… keto and fasting / intermittent fasting is the best way for anyone to lose weight… long term benefits of keto/ fasting is it reverses insulin resistance…
Sneaky way to say go Whole Foods Plant Based.
Great video, Dylan! Would you recommend to make the juices myself or can I just buy them in the supermarket (being processed)?
I just recently listened to a podcast that suggested taking a laxative prior to racing to shed some weight.
I'm an overweight Wheatie!
Came here for the bike knowledge. Not a lesson on food that I Already know
Don't forget the alcohol, it's EXTREMELY calorie dense. More dense that sugar or fat in fact. Just two "well earned" beers will ruin any weight loss strategy in a heartbeat. It's empty calories too so the calories you take in from alcohol do nothing good for your recovery. Basically if you want to be fast = no alcohol. If you want to drink something in the evening to relax I recommend caffeine free tea.
Thanks for the video.
As a couple of people already pointed out, lemon verbena extract was what was tested in the linked study. Lemon Verbena is a herb grown mostly in Europe that has a lemony flavour, but it's not lemon.
I watch this while drink beer
calorie density can be confusing… take papaya for example.. is it lower in density than a banana?
I don't even cycle, your videos are helpful to me as a runner.
Its real simple, energy in and energy out. Work and train hard, eat well and avoid junk and sugar calories. Your body will tell you what it needs. I might eat junk twice a month, maybe. I ride and work almost daily, 170# lean at 56. By the way a body can only absorb 30 grams of protein at a time, learned that when I competed in bodybuilding, so an 8 ounce steak or the like is detrimental, most goes right in the bowl, fats are important as well.
Are you kidding, I eat 5 times a day just to maintain weight and muscle maintenance. 56 been riding 4 decades, still ripped top and lower.
I realized I have terrible A.D.D. haha but I love how educational your videos are.
Check out that legendary mullet bruhhhh…….
How does one approach eating a head of lettuce? asking for a friend
I know I'm late to the party, but that study you quoted about lemon was about lemon verbena which is an herb.
Except it's not true. There may be a tiny truth in it, however no such thing as nutrition science. You get fat as a side effect, usually metabolic issues. The only fat storing hormone is insulin. Keeping insulin low is key.
At the end of the video the advise is to eat whole foods, I agree. Ultimately when you want to lose fat make sure you're a fat burner and not a carb burner. Fruit isn't the best choice you could make. Also be aware that calorie in ≠calorie out. We have no good way to measure that. We are not an internal combustion engines, but a vessel of bio-chemical processes (way more complicated)
Losing weight and being a high performing rider are two unrelated phases.
Keep in mind first 5 to 20 pounds is water, depending on your start weight. However it's still dead weight you got rid of.
Good example about expert that is making expert video about a topic that he is not expert at: theory and practical execution are two different things! More harm than good in this video info.
Agreed, I've been eating low calorie density foods for a long time now, it's very sustainable, and even with binge eating bread and milk all day I stayed at 20% body fat without any effort (I'm not metabolic gifted, my metabolism is like an 80 year old by the way). Now I started cycling consistently and I got rid of milk, and bingeing for the most part, and I'm at like 18% body fat now and I'm losing it every week.
*orders tomato juice… And blueberry.
Wow! Greatly impressed by the excellent content in your channel.
Tomato juice – I knew it!
Just for the record: you killed the lchf miracle diet at 10:10 đŸ˜€
This works! Just stumbled on this and I already switched to this over 2 years ago and down from 480lb to325.
thanks
Interesting: I was always having difficulties not to gain weight (no wonder since I eat a lot and also food with high energy density) but since I started cycling (around 9 hours per week) my weight is going down around 0.5 kg per week without even trying.
I'm a 48kg 173cm rider and I learned a lot watching this.
If I was looking for a coach you would be it but I am in the UK. Wow great video and so true. I have used WW and successfully lost lots of weight but lost muscle mass too. Then gained some back, so calorie counted and macro ratios – that didn't work, did not gain anymore but lost nothing. The calorie density point is a really good one and as I become vegetarian at the turn of the year is inline with my new way of eating and living.
Good advice. Your comment about not focusing on macronutrients (alone) reminds me of the difference between between being vegetarian (Oreos and potato chips are cool!) vs. plant-based.
Yup I agree. When I want to lose weight bad enough I just go on the Paleo diet. Nothing but whole foods. Fruits veggies meat eggs oatmeal etc. My problem is I have ADHD and the high processed carbs and sugar satisfy my dopamine needs. That is why I cant keep the weight off. Thanks for the video
Lemon verbena extract (not "lemon juice")
How do you find the best weight for your size?
