Damn. the power of suggestion is powerful.
And thus, the horse hoof, chicken foot, pig pancreas, cow whisker, sheep eye sausage that people eat nowadays at baseball games was born
It always amazes me the kind of poison full grown adults will put into their bodies these days. My roommate, for example, only eats highly processed food, meat, and drinks mountain dew everyday, yet he still wonders why he's fat and never does anything to change it.
I see this everywhere I look in society. Most of my coworkers are in the same predicament, overweight or obese, eating loads of shitty simple carbs without even a hint that maybe the reason they're fat is because they are neglecting to ensure that the majority of what they eat is whole plant foods, which quickly fill you up without the excess calories, fat, or sugar present in the standard American diet.
The obesity crisis could be totally eliminated if people just followed a few simple rules with regards to their diet:
1. Eat a diet with the majority of calories coming from whole plant foods. Primarily vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts, and fruits.
2. Do not eat processed foods.
3. Do not eat anything with added sugar.
4. Do not cook with or add oil to any food.
5. Unlimited vegetable and fruit intake.
6. Do not eat any animal products, or limit them to once every 2 weeks.
It's so fucking simple. Diet effects everything we do in life. Are people unaware that they're most likely going to die of heart disease which is a function of their crap diet and entirely preventable? This shit is serious.
first, that thumbnail is adorable lol
Broccoli and kale cookies! I'll buy and eat them. Personally I don't need something to taste good to eat it. I just want to get full.
Hey this was great my husband refuses to eat any veggies and very few fruits
Lmao people are so gullible, I'm glad they are being tricked into eating healthy at least.
You are a quack. Without references you are simply spouting BS.
In contrast, i gave you a lot of references of papers published in specialized medical journals and the current official stance of the National Institure of Health, still a more reliable slource than te opinion of a nobody in the Internet.

(1/2) You seem to have confused a scientific study with the latest Hollywood premiere. The conclusions of a scientific study is valid for as long as no other debunks them. Some of the most cited papers were published half century ago and their conclusions are still pretty valid. Anyway, here yo are an update of that populational study published 8 years later (continuation below):

(1/3) You should read this seminal paper from a study of a large sample from 48 different groups around the world. The only populations who didn't experience a significative rise in blood pressure with age were those whose sodium intake were (for modern standards) very low. Unrelated to either food choices or lifestyle since there were other groups with similar diet, lifestyle and relatedness but high sodium intake who did experience a rise in their blood pressure with age. Probably from Loren Cordain.
(3/3) Excerpt (reference above):
"Gary Taubes's article about dietary sodium and hypertension (News Focus, 14 Aug., p. 898) depicts the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) as sticking to a public policy position in favor of “universal salt reduction,” in spite of published data questioning salt's effect on blood pressure.
Not so. NHLBI's recommendation for Americans to consume a moderate salt intake is based on a thorough, impartial, and continual review of the published science."

Why do you assume I didn't? Anyway, the recent research doesn't overturn the conclusions drawn by previous research, particularly when these are well stablished:
"There is overwhelming evidence that our current high-salt intake is the major factor increasing blood pressure (BP) and, thereby, a major cause of cardiovascular disease and kidney disease worldwide"

Gary Taubes…..LOL!
Don't change a thing about your videos. Great job as usual.
So stop feeding soy to livestock, feed them their natural diet be it grass, bugs or tubers.
I think dr. Greger's videos are great along with his voice. I look forward to watching his videos!
Gary Taubes is an unreliable source of nutritional information. He presents skewed information and probably has an agenda that isn't related to improve the health of the general population.
For instance, he opposes the recommendation to cut down sodium from the diet of the general popultion, which sounds fishy since there's clear evidence that sodium has an accumulative effect on the rise of blood pressure, and a number of other health issues such as bone demineralization.
He talks like this in real life too.
He was reading studies, not listing his personal beliefs.
Doc RULES..I met him in person here in Naples, FL in December 2012…*SUCH* a good guy and he gives the nicest hugs…go Doc!
Bello!
Your bias is showing.
"Is not a health food" is a hard claim that has to be proven with hard facts. As in, good science.
That is why I steer clear of all the "diet" books, they do not contain that hard data and/or refernces 99% of the time – so you're going on a limb that some shaman or guru is right.
Science, while imperfect, actually cares about reproducible results.
There's no trick or something..you either have a brain, and understand that processed food is deadly for or the environment,or not.
Gary Taubes will probably change his point-of-view, like many other nutritionists. Where is the SCIENCE that his dietary recommendations are based on? Peer reviewed, journal published studies 🙂
…so, adults are now kids?
I don't agree with that. The videos are each a small presentation, and I think the way he speaks helps to keep me interested. But that's personal opinion, I guess!
I'm sorry to be so frank, but first I wish to say that the content of what you say is very interesting and informative. However, the odd cadence of your voice and the affected inflections you use for "public speaking" are distracting enough for me not to follow you. If you could simply talk as you normally do in everyday life, you might get more viewers.
soy milk is disgusting. i have oat milk on cereal. please don't tell me soy is tasteless.
Soy beans are one of the healthiest and most abundant foods on the planet. Even soy protein which has been stripped from soy beans is still considered a healthy alternative with many benefits according to NIH.
Animal flesh is deficient in fiber, phytochemicals, and antioxidants which are anti-carcinogenic. So I wouldn't call it "nutrient rich". As for saturated fats and trans fats that clog your arteries, not a good idea. Major cause of atherosclerosis, most common cause of death.
Tricks are for kids
That's unfortunate that you're eating slaughtered animals. Try watching "Earthlings" and "Forks Over Knives".
Also, "The China Study" will change your whole way of thinking about food again. 🙂
Soy is not a health food so even if someone told me something contained soy and it did not, of course I would avoid it. A calorie isn't a calorie. I just eat nutrient rich foods like meat, fish, seafood, vegetables & good saturated fats. Gary Taubes book Good Calories, Bad Calories changed my whole way of thinking about food.
Health is real wealth. ;-D
"the average adult"
I've thought that this was the case for a long time now.
I personally care about more than that as I find that there is more to life than just how much money you make. Like how much money you actually KEEP after you've gotten the money for instance and good health.
HAHAHAHA. to get adults to eat healthier… promise them an increase in their monetary paycheck. that's all the average adult cares about.
