The inverse is ALSO true: An effect shown by a drug does NOT prove a dietary intervention will have the same effect.
Even non organic whole plant foods do the job better then these pills/substitutes or simply said better conventional whole plant foods then no whole plant foods and don't be afraid of frozen fruit and veggies still better have them then have none in your diet (=
That's capitalism for you. Always trying to find a way to exploit people at everyone's expense.
When researchers finally get back to their senses and propose ethical solutions to health problems, they get no echo from neither the industry or the public: that would mean bigger costs for both of them. We've got an ethical problem? Let's answer with an even more unethical solution like genetic manipulation, only because there is a commercial potential.
As long as the race to cut costs keeps up as the main economical paradigm, it's hopeless to witness a change in consciences.
I just came across this channel! Thankyou! These videos are so helpful đŸ™‚
The very last point is why no professional will conduct studies on food and its benefit to our health. May be one might argue even he found certain vegetables are directly related to whatever health benefit, it only benefit the farmer that grow those vegetables. They might be more inclined to study and discover a group of specific ingredients or vitamins that improve certain health conditions. But only they know the concoction of these vitamins, then came manufacturing and packaging, another health food of great promises knocking at our doorstep. At the door your relative has just join a health food multi-level company.
Only in modern medicine try to turn everything into a pill, by extracting the vita-nutrients out of the plant to make pills. TCM, traditional Chinese medicine, even in pill form it is the effective part of the plant, dried thoroughly, then grind into powder. Of course modern medicine claim a extract of 200:1 means their 1 pill is equivalent to 200 oranges. But what about bioavailability? Or it got damaged or destroyed by our stomach acid. May be that's the reason to consume the whole thing.
Corporations = non-human, inhumane entities.
Just in case you were wondering…
There are heirloom purple tomatoes, but they don't ship well. So it would up to local farmers to sell them at markets. Then too, people must buy them or farmers will go back to what sells.
why didn't I gained a lot of weight when I come vegan I eat mostly a lot whole foods is it my poor past lifestyle can effect body like I used to yoyo diet a lot and water fasting and been bulimic can this effect
once again this points to what I have been saying all along, eat your physiologic food and everything falls into place. real food and NOT supplements. fruits, veggies, salads, nuts, seeds, even grains minimally processed. supplements never were and never will be the answer. it is not only beta carotene. sugar itself is a prime example of a vital energy source becoming a poison once it is refined beyond a certain point. same also with vitamin A, E, C etc
but what if you take them with fruits and vegetables? for example drinking one of those packets of emergen-c while eating a few oranges?
They can keep their lousy pills i'll stick to plants thanks.
Does genetically engineering the plants bring about the desired effects? Or is engineering foods carcinogenic? What do studies show?
Most of the fruits and vegetables have no favor. Organic does taste better.
The industry is just craycray. Organic whole foods any day!
It's not what you put in that keeps you alive.
It's the crap you leave out…
Funny indeed. Pictures of grapefruit shown, but not a word. Kindly cover grapefruits also. Thanks
A mouthful of kale I be havin'
Eating a whole bag of spinach while watching this, just sayin.
I'm guessing this would apply to that bullshit "golden rice" GMO abomination where they take rice and genetically modify it to produce beta carotene.
It is pushed as some savior for third world countries that have many people lacking beta carotene and thus vitamin A and thus have eye problems.
I mean firstly they would be wholly dependent on corporate handouts, hardly freeing, secondly I think it would be toxic crap, and thirdly they should be growing their own food, many varieties of food, in permaculture methods optimally.
I read, don't remember where, that taking antioxidants in pill form actually suppresses the body's ability to process & use them. Most supplement companies have stopped combining them with their multivitamins. Just reminds us that we're just scratching the surface when it comes to nutritional science. We're a long way off, until then, JERF!
Anyone else sing the three notes in the intro and outro? đŸ˜‰
I disagree that the whole food is greater than the sum of its parts. A whole food is exactly the sum of its parts. The difference is that a carrot contains a carrot, while a bottle of pills does not contain a carrot.
Eye rolling doesn't seem an adequate response, somehow. Thanks for posting, NF.
the whole food is greater than the sum of the parts we have identified đŸ˜‰ there's still so much for us to learn!
Got carotene?
This new gene splicing has a lot of possibilities. For lonely people we could splice human genes into vegetables. Male genes into zucchini and cucumbers and female genes into, oh I don't know, how bout squash or papaya?
This makes me scared for the future
Helpful video! I am researching phytochemicals and their positive implications for human health for a biology course. I was just learning how isolated antioxidants really have little or even deleterious effects overall. Thanks for summarizing here and confirming my own findings đŸ™‚
I guess busywork is good for the economy. Why propose a much easier solution that won't create jobs? We need one group of workers to create a problem that another group of workers solves. The alternative is more unemployment.
Mmm, I've always felt that 5 a day was woefully inadequate!
What a great video. Man cannot beat mother nature. We can, however, use technology to add with her gifts – refrigeration and other encapsulation methods come to mind for example. Farming tools, organic methods and greater study of the property of whole food is improving on how we can living healthier lifestyles.
