What a brilliant end! Pharma would make even more money if they ask to drink two cups of water with the pill!! hahahaha

The studies referenced in this video show that drinking water improves cognitive performance in only children, but what adults or the elderly? And if hydration is the topic of interest, then it would be wise to look at what other liquids or solid foods do a better job than water. So, it would be good to look at the amount of electrolytes for instance in watermelon or coconut — which will keep you more hydrated than just drinking plain water.

Obviously water is very important, but what kind of water should we be drinking? Tap water is highly toxic, spring water if you have access to is still full of dissolved inorganic minerals. This new alkaline water I believe to be bad for you as well just concentrating these dissolved solids in the water. So in my opinion from the research that I've seen leads me to the conclusion the best water is pure water just how nature makes  it fresh as rain or a man made countertop distiller!

I can see some confounding factors here. Most if not all those kids are under high-sodium diets coupled to low-potassium intake (the case of most Westerner diets), and it's well known that a high sodium intake can impair the control of the concentration of sodium in the organism under stressing situations, for instance, by favoring a significant loss of sodium in urine and sweat.
Thus, those kids could be particularly susceptible to fluctuations of the sodium concentration in the surrounding environment around neurons.
A second confounding factor caused by high-sodium intake is due to the sodium interference in the signaling mechanisms for thermoregulation, what may also impair cognitive function by allowing the body-core temperature to rise, and also the brain temperature.

"Does a drink of water make kids smarter?"

    Simple answer? No.

It doesn't. It contains no nutrients, vitamins, minerals or calories.

Yes it's essential for life but only as a medium / solvent. No amount of water makes you smarter.

The question is a false one. It would be better to ask "Does mild dehydration impair performance"

As it stands it's like asking does breathing make you smarter

I rather teach my daughter to drink water instead of using a fake pill to make her drink water. Taking medication as part of her daily routing would make her understand that medicine could be taken anytime.

what about green tea does it hydrate as much as water or is it just as bad as juice?

I'd rather drink flouride water to stay hydrated than not drink enough water at all..

Nah, there's not enough fluoride in the EU water (no idea about US) to matter. Just enough to prevent tooth decay if you drink mostly unboiled tap water, which nobody seems to do anyway.

They're not going to be smarter now that they've contaminated our water with flouride.

the added fluoride is suppose to lower IQ though and cause many other adverse health effects. check out the studies and decide their credibility for yourself

I always encourage my students to have a bottle of water with them in the class! Dehydration is an alarm. Who can learn the german adjectival endings, while his/her body is shouting "save me!"? đŸ˜‰

What about the flouride in our water? That makes children smarter?
