Potatoes have all the essential nutrients (with the exception of B12).
Watch on YouTube the video: Potato Mastermind – Part 1.
Damn theoretically I could live on $5 a month.

Stupid! Generations of people have been eating nothing but potatoes. You don't have a clue.

You can also eat the leaves of the sweet potato for additional vitamins and minerals. If you also had a moringa tree you would survive just fine on potatoes, sweet potatoes and moringa.
Add milk and you have a balance diet.

Hello germa
Oysters.
I came here in search of information about dangers of the youtube popular potato diet.
I'm interested in doing it for fast weight loss, because that is what people claim it helps with.
But I am afraid of doing something that might be dangerous for me personally, because I have a history of insulin resistance and blood sugar swings.
You would think that a high carb diet (which the potato diet is) would not be a good idea in that case.
I haven't seen any youtube videos covering the potato diet where the people with insulin resistance or diabetes talked about their blood sugar levels on the diet.
So even if the diet caused satisfactory weight loss I don't want to do it at the cost of my pancreatic health.
Can anyone help me find such material? I have searched but didn't find anything.

Not entirely one food, but Henry David Thoreau did reduce his diet quite a bit. Besides going vegetarian, he eliminated tea, coffee, butter, milk, and beans. Besides lots of potatoes, he ate a lot of rice and corn. He ate what he could grow, such as peas and radishes, but this was limited as wild animals were always eating his garden. He was also known to have a sweet tooth.
Hyperkalemia
Of course you could eat just potatoes for the rest of your life, no problem. You could also live on just water, coca cola or nothing at all for the rest of your life. The rest of your life may just not be very long, that's all.
In the book, Watney had a ton of vitamins and he paced out his regular rations after he began to harvest spuds. BTW, the audiobook is absolutely incredible. The reader ate only potatoes during the during his recording time.
appart from summer months, live on spuds.
