The question of the source of bacteria in mother's milk was interesting. Cow's milk is sterile at source and the bacteria enter from the skin of the cow. I suspect that this is the same mechanism for humans.
Infants get their first dose of bacteria from the birth canal. It would make sense that they should also sample bacteria from all of the mother's environment which would include her skin.
