"half-kilo a day of dark green leaves" – isn't that too much?
just eat more meat and you can't go wrong <3
You should also recommend no starches for toddlers
I get it, and never wanted to go on a raw food diet. I gotta say that the people I meet who call themselves “rawtarians” look and feel great! Lean, fit, energetic. They do seem healthy.
Do we need all those extra antioxidants or would we be perfectly fine with less. More isn't always better. We need more of this, more of that(fermented foods), I don't think so. If we have 3x less antioxidants from a tomato that's uncooked va cooked is that necessarilly a bad thing. I doubt it. The body doesn't need or want everything we give it. Some studies should be done on that also. Thank you.
I love this channel!
Dr. Greger is talking like there is a baby sleeping in the other room that he doesn't want to wake up.. Great video though. Cleared up another youtube video I spent 1.40 minutes listening to. I thought, let me see what Dr. Greger says as he is my go-to guy!!
Honestly I miss this era of the more soft-spoken Dr. Gregor. His voice was so calming.
but I LOVE mixed salads! And fresh fruit…
Hi I have been eating a raw strict vegan diet for 10 years and feel fabulous… I am on no medication and have tons of energy at 52 years old
from london brixton uk . i went raw vegan, green juiced with lemons n ginger 5-6 cups per day. big bowls of salads. i reversed my cancer tumours. i am cancer free. i am healthy. no drug did this just Godly food.
Good info except I for one did not have an ape ancestor but thankful for the rest on the info.
I got to have beans. It is satisfy my hunger and protein intake.
Very well said. Thank you for the video. That sealed my doubt about wether eating raw only or with cooked. I was going back and forth on it but still going for 60% to 70% raw and rest cooked.
I was vegan for over a year when I started following dr mcdougal diet, whole plant based with no oils, little salt for 1y8months, my health was still not improving. After going mostly raw and I mean by that mostly fruitarian (because no one in their right mind eats raw grains as said in the video…), my health improved by miles. I exercise almost every day and many times twice, BJJ and Muay Thai, I run a few times a week and do weight/boy exercises, so fruitarian diet is more than adequate, I challenge Dr Greger for a blood test. On my last test Drs thought I was on multi vitamin supplements. I am doing this fruitarian diet for 4 years now, my skin is so clear and smooth, never was like that my whole life, big skin rashes disappeared, sleep way better.
I think having a good hard list of optimal ways to concsume different foods would be a good resource. IDK if this info is presented in your books but I guess I'll know soon enough 😉
there is no way that cooking (destroying) can outlast nature haha
Nature always wins
i honestly thought raw was superior i hate raw kale spinach etc etc etc
A great book is Catching Fire by Dr. Richard Wrangham. It's a great book and it's about how cooking made us human. Homo Sapiens have never been on a diet of 100% raw food. These suburban raw food people don't really know what they are talking about.
5 cups of spinach in 1 sitting = 1 trip to the ER for kidney stones…
Raw is natural, cooked is not. Everything else are lies/propaganda. How can someone in his natural state of diet be inferior to someone that eats cooked food or even a combination? it's impossible by the logic of nature. I think people pushing out these ideas are not even human.
this is why im about to throw science out the window.. its got me stressing so much
Ah. ASMR Dr. Greger, we meet again. relaxes U_U
Wow, this is the 2ND video in a row that I've watched of Dr. Greger's today, & after having watched, I don't know, around 100 of his vids (over the years), ALL of which I BELIEVED…these last two make me WONDER ABOUT HIM!!!
I mean, in the last vid I watched, he actually referred to the microwave as a GENTLE way of cooking!?!? And in here, he says (in so many words) that NO plant foods are any less nutritious when cooked!?!?
I MYSELF BELIEVE, that the NATURALLY HARDER plant foods (ie. beans, grains, potatoes, broccoli, carrots, brussel sprouts, kale, etc.) SHOULD BE heated/cooked, but the softer ones SHOULD NOT. (I mean, even HE mentions (briefly) about our stomach acids here in this vid!?!?) If you HEAT/COOK SOFT vegetables, PLUS they get "PROCESSED" AGAIN, IN OUR STOMACH ACIDS…then what nutrients are left in them THEN (not even asking about their MICROnutrients)?!?!
How sadly disappointing baseless negative review on raw eating!
This is how he always talks people.
BULLSHIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I like your video's but f*c* this one!!!!! human's? tired and less energy on a raw diet ? RUUBISH ABSOLUTE DISOPOINTING RUBBISH!!!!!!!! I know a man named mark tassi who could out run you like you was a slug and he is a fruitaran everything he eat's is raw and he get's everything *EVERYTHING he need's on a fruit diet this must also be why you sound so gentle in this one because you know darn well that this is a hollow study. ABSOLUTE RUBBISH OLD MAN*!!!!!!!!!! How is it better to get something from cooking when you could get the same thing from the raw fruit's and leaves? *THIS STUDY IS *HORSESHIT*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Big fan of yours.
That being said: all I heard is that it‘s not that easy – not that convenient – to eat raw.
What I didn‘t hear was about the adverse health effects of cooking… AGEs, Maillard effect, starch turning into sugar, etc., etc.
I might be wrong, but doesn‘t that need to be adressed too?
And as for the nutrients in carrots being more accessible when being cooked: how about (raw) blended?
It’s. Like. He. Makes. Every. Word. It’s. Own………sentence.
